"Five more minutes before we leave," "ten more minutes of play and then bed" — these phrases barely work on kids, because time is purely abstract. It has no shape and no weight.
Can we turn "duration" into something a child can see and feel?

Yes — following momomori's second principle, concrete before abstract:
Map time onto a visible physical change (the sand in an hourglass, the color of a light strip, a slowly filling progress bar), and a child can build a bodily intuition of "this long = this much," rather than memorizing the hollow fact "60 seconds = 1 minute."

- Use an hourglass / visual timer to "make physical" a few common durations.
- Play a little game: "Do you think five minutes is up yet?" — let them guess first, then reveal.
